Just finished a single with some of my favorite musicians!

Hey guys!

Just finished working on this mini-project. We cut this single in about 4 hours, with live basics and some really great musicians. We're a group of guys in our early 20's trying to make a living making records for people, and inject a little bit of that Nashville spirit into the Midwestern scene. Eventually, I hope to be able to offer a service with our house rhythm section doing remote session work across the country!

Kim is a great songwriter, and If I could afford it, I would do a whole record of hers on spec. Thanks for taking the time, even if it's not your cup of tea! (btw, Soundcloud is kind of destroying the top end, I'll have to do something about that!)

This sounds great guys! Really cool vibe, and I LOVE that vocalist. Great style and delivery. I may have to keep her in mind for future projects.

The mix is really cool, soft, laid back, and vibey...it may be a little too soft/smooth, depending on what you are going for. There is a bit of masking going on, mostly in the low mids, probably guitars rubbing with bass, from what I can hear. But, it gives the song a nice live gelling quality that I like. Sounds warm. The vocal is cutting through very nicely...so if you try to clean things up and make them pop more, be careful you don't lose the clarity of the vocal. Same with the snare...it's cutting nicely. Also, it could be soundcloud, like you said, killing the high end making it seem a bit, clouded...pun intented

Great job! I personally like the mix...my comments are mostly to make it more "commercial" sounding by brightening things, getting more clarity and separation between instruments, etc...but...don't lose that vibe in trying to do so.
