Comment on the first mix...

The song and vibe is great but to my ears you went to far with the compressor - the snare sounds corny and the low end is not tight!

Sorry for bumping such an old thread, I just haven't had much time to get on GS lately.

Hans- I like the suggestion, but the artist and I both felt that a fuller mix would be more appropriate. He really likes Neil Young, and I had the band Neva Dinova in mind when I was recording/mixing. I think we found some decent middle-ground.

dim- yeah, the compressor may be a bit much. I think most of what you're hearing is coming from the OH compression.

I have resigned to putting a 2db boost on everything over 10k to get rid of some of the "muffled" sound that comes along with the oh-so-cheap SMPro PR-8.

Thanks a lot for your comments everyone. The artist has gotten a lot of compliments on the song.
