| Gear nut | Gearslut collaboration cover song?
I think this is the best sub forum to post this question in. What I'd love to do is get a group of musicians or engineers who play instruments to collaborate and record a cover song (Sunday Bloody Sunday by U2). How this would work is I'd program some drums and a PT session then post it up and allow everybody to download the session and record their part to it then send it back to me. I would then put everything together in one session and post it up and allow anybody to mix it. The drums would act more as a guide (click track) but I think it might be difficult to find a drummer who has the time and equipment to record themselves properly so might end up using programmed drums. I know this is a long shot but I think the results could be interesting and it's a good way of getting a session together that people can put their own spin on and less experienced people could use it to practice mixing. If I get enough interest I'll organise it properly and set up a session. Also if you're a musician in Ireland I'd have no problem dropping out to you and recording your part. |

and why exactly this song? Maybe it would make more sense if you make a poll or something, so we can choose the song.

That's a fair point, I was actually just learning the tab earlier on so it was the first song in my head. If I made a poll now again it would be limiting because I'd just be picking songs I personally like, I think if people post suggestions then I'll make a poll with the 4 or 5 most requested... probably the best way to do it? |

I guess so, but again, we can choose some really old and popular song that everybody knows, but would it be any fun to make another cover out of it? I'm not sure this is going to work, considering that just in one thread we can see people who loves metal, pop and jazz, and sometimes it could be just one person.

To be honest I'm not expecting it to work but there's no harm in trying! I'm open to any genre but I'd like to keep to more commercial music just because there's a better chance that people would agree on a song then. I'm going to throw out a few ideas U2 - Sunday Bloody Sunday Bob Dylan - Hurricane Simon & Garfunkel - Cecilia Thin Lizzy - Boys are back in town Boston - more than a feeling Something along those lines..... |

Okay, my list would be Hall and Oates - Rich Girl Miley Cyrus - The Climb (it's a nice song, I don't care who she is) James Morrison - Undiscovered Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song Adele - Set Fire to the Rain |
