I have just recorded a song in my mother language (Czech). I would like to hear any suggestions about my song and the sound from people living abroad... (please note the video is an amateur work. I made it using a simple photocamera and had no experience with videos making before) thank you Jirka Mucha - ANGREZ - YouTube |

Really nice, and I enjoyed the video a good bit, irrespective of your inexperience filming. As for the production, it too is very nice. I'd regard this as the "pop mix" of the track, in that everything is quite up front and you don't allow any space unfilled- and that's fine. The vocals are quite tuned, and the female-male octaves, which I feel would sound truly great if left untuned altogether (or less tined), are picture perfect. On the other hand, I'd certainly welcome a "non-pop mix" of this piece if the future calls for it. Congratulations on your win. I don't doubt that you were well received. John Caldwell |

nice ballad, although i didn't understand a single word(naturally), but it doesn't mean the song is bad. awesome balance between guitars, vocals and strings.

Thank you and thank you John for your suggestions. I just don't understand the term "non-pop mix".. how the pop mix supposed to be?

Thank you Michael you are absolutely right, haha just few days ago i got the same thoughts if the beatles used tuning plugin.. trying not to use tuning correction too much.. i have propably used the pitching correction too much for female vocals. She sings actually very good and in pitch just this piece was a bit high for her at the moment we were recording thats why i used the correction more.. i will be more careful for the next time |

Great song, production and mix. Video is top notch for being just an amateur video. Really loved the song, wish it was in English though, would listen to it on the loop for a while. I was born in Prague btw, haha.

you were born in Prague and you dont understand Czech? I was planning to make the song in english but i think czech language has added some unique spice to the song.. everyone is making song in english these days, i dont want to say it is wrong but then music of other cultures is loosing its uniqueness.. i believe music is more important then words as music has language that everyone understands..

I do agree that music is unique language which speaks for itself, but if everything was so simple, why would we need lyrics then? :-) We could just hum without any words. At the end of the day, every singer want to pass some message with lyrics to listeners. It happened so that if you want to pass your message over to as many people as possible, English is the language to do so. :-) | |
