Beginner looking for some tips on first mix

Hey guys,

I would pretty much classify myself as a beginner at producing/mixing/etc but I'm now trying to really improve my skills and take them to the next level. To do that though, I'll need some tips on a current song that is the best I can do at the moment. It's not much, but it's the best I have as of now. I'm really looking to get some constructive criticism, and I would really appreciate any feedback you have.

The song, "I'm Here" is hosted here: http://eddielucitt.com/imhere.mp3

Thanks a ton,
Eddie

Hey, nice work for a beginner. It sounds so boomy and unbalanced, but I believe you can do it better if you mix it a bit.

The drums are kinda lost, cymbals are all over the place.
Snare is drowning, I can barely hear it. Try to use some samples with heavier attack and smack.
Kick has no low-end and it sounds like someone punching piece of meat with a fist.
Guitars are alright, considering of course that you are a beginner. Try to make them sound like orchestra you know, balanced and tight.

Bass - is it in there? I can rarely hear bass movement and some boom in the back, but it certainly needs more character. I would use some jazz bass or something, it has nice tone with perfect attack.

Thanks so much for your feedback. I'm probably going to end up just re-recording the whole thing so I can get some better and tighter sounds. I'll be sure to take what you've suggested and put it towards the new version of the song. Thanks again.
