I'm working on my bands latest EP and was looking for opinions on the mix i've done so far. I think i've gone past the point of being objective now! http://soundcloud.com/jon_origin/jon-trowbridge-band-something Thanks Jon |

Yeah. First of all, how I listen - first time on my studio monitors in my mixing room. Second take - I upload track on iPod and listen to it in my living room switching between ear buds and small media speakers. Overall, it's overwhelmed with high frequencies content. To me it has way too much instruments and effects within this range. And all together it's just too much. The snare is way too harsh - it's like you left only bottom mic in the mix. I would make it a bit heavier and punchy. Right now it sounds to me like someone hitting box filled with glass or something. Everything is TOO bright, it was almost ear piercing when i was listening on my iPod. It sounds TOO bright on my studio speakers, insanely bright on media speakers and almost deadly on iPod. Strings, I feel like they trying to kill my brain. They are beautiful, but as I said a few times, way too high. Keep it down a little bit, kill those deadly frequencies. Good song and arrangement. |
