Thread Starter | Keith Richards meets Andy Summers guitar tones...
Hi Gang, I have this 2-minute intro for two guitars, bass and drums, and I'm wondering if you like the guitar tones or not. Once it gets going, I think I'm into it, but could use some fresh perspective. I'm especially interested in any thoughts about the solo guitar intro — I was going for a real overdriven but not too distorted guitar tone. I think it's there, but there are a few accented notes where the distortion breaks up and kind of "barks" a little bit. I'm curious if you find it annoying? Like the title says, the sounds are a bit "Keith Richards meets Andy Summers." Please excuse the cheezy programmed drums — they're only temporary until I get my drummer in here, and in the meantime are a lot more fun to record against than a click... Cheers, Andrew |

More (some) chorus on the first guitar would be worth checking out.

I personally love that barking sound, it could use even more of that. ;-) Whatever it takes to make the two guitars sound really different will work great in my opinion. They are kind of samey now, but maybe that was your intention, so take it with a grain of salt.

Thanks guys, Yes, I thought about "permanently" flanging the part in the left channel... I played around with it for a while, but couldn't quite find the right amount to make me happy. Your comment has inspired me to keep hunting for it, though... maybe I'll just go for a straight chorus as opposed to a flange. As for differentiation of the two parts (and as you sort of alluded to, Tinderwet) I quite like the "homogeneity" and the way the two parts kind of "mesh" together into a texture, but I definitely see your point... I might do some experimenting and see what it's like if I futz one of them up! Cheers, Andrew |
