Shambolic Indie Rock

We tracked drums and basic instrumental tracks at a professional studio, then did the rest at home using basic, "prosumer" gear such as the Audio Technica 4050 mic, the Studio Projects VTB1 preamp and the M-Audio Delta 1010 soundcard.

Our budget for the 6 song EP worked out to around $450 (Canadian). We're releasing it and rouring behind it this spring. Our name is Western Birds and the EP is called To the Tip of the Nail.

Let us know what you think.

Cheers,
Mike

"1999 to 2005" is a pretty cool song, I like it a lot! Cool drumming style!
I think the vocals are a bit low. Betwin 1:50 and 1:54 are some clicks and plopps.
Was that mixed from the guitar player on the left? (just kidding)

"thanksgiving" is very boomy. i hope you get someone to master it. pm me if you are interested in crediting a mastering engineer on these tracks; i know someone who could make it sound much better for just spelling their name correctly in the liner notes.

I would be willing to do a mix on "1999 to 2005" for free. Cool song!

Thanks for all the replies. It is true that the vocals are a bit quiet by pop standards.

I'm looking into getting it mastered, but it would have to fit into our miniscule budget...
