World's Best Drummer

This is two brothers that play in some basement near where I live...I swear the drummer is like the Rainman of drums...unbelievable. And he also sings while he plays...

there are even sicker songs than this but not on my computer...

some sick phrasing at like 2 minutes... Not my thing either, but it always trips me out to hear this stuff... obviously a really athletic cat.

he's not that great compared to other deathmetal drummers I know of. (so rule out world's best drummer)

Gene Hogland (Death, Devin Townsend, Testament, Strapping Young Lad) not even close to him.
Actually all of Death's drummers were incredibly amazing

Lamb of God drummer,

Cryptopsy's Flo what's his name.

Messhugha's drummer,

Dimmu Borgir

Man, the list goes on and on...

Don't get me wrong, I'm not dissing your guy.. he's really really good. But that's a big statement you made... I'm deathmetal junkie so I caught onto that right away. maybe it should read "My street's best drummer" kididng...

Best of luck to that drummer though... he's heavy.

Sounds kinda like Mastodon. Definitely a Brann influence there. Pretty cool stuff.

I'd definitely agree with World's Flashiest Drummer but, as far as "best", this guy needs to decide if he's in a band or a soloist. Who wants to listen to a 3.5 minute long drum fill? If this guy had a solid sense of time and just the slightest sense of musicality, he might be worth listening to. Until then, give this guy some bongos and let him wear himself out.

I agree with Nate.
A good drummer has a sense of timing and musicality about his/her playing that keeps the "heartbeat" of the song, gives it life and a sense of direction.

Good drumming is definitely not just smacking the skins as fast and as hard as you can, trying to get the most random hits in per minute. A monkey could do that.
I've heard both good and bad drummers, but this I stopped playing about halfway through.

I do agree about the groove thing in general, but it just doesn't fit this style of music. I'm wondering where groove would fit into this song? The parts that need to be scaled back are. If they rolled up with four on the floor at a live show they'd be outclassed by every other band on the bill playing similar music.......and this is not even close to being death metal.

I cannot tell which drum he is hitting when. The snare sounds like the kick and the toms like the snare... He is a bit aggro though. Nice work!

well--its like the argument about guitar players---there are the guys that play a thousand notes a second -with no feel-----and then the guys that can hit one note and send a electric shock through your spine---................it's all about reaching a persons soul and emotion.....

Really poor timing..... But to each his own. Im actually a little surprised at the title of the thread VS the quality of the playing. Got me to listen though.....
