Hey guys.. just finished mixing this song that i produced, but it just doesn't seem to sound as good as it should....
I would like to hear what i can do to make the vocals fit in more... plus what can i do with the addlips (doubles) falling into anti-phase????

As far as making the vocals fit in better, they are pretty loud in the mix. If you sit them back a little farther that alone should get you a lot closer to a more cohesive mix.

the vocals move back and forward a lot. Sounds like you need some sierous automation work done. Ease up on the delays...

The vocal level on each verse is not the same. Verse 1 they're quite prominent, then in verse 2 it's futher back in the mix almost as if the rapper's steped back off the mic a bit. (rappers need to learn about proximity effect, and unless their in a well done vocal booth, STOP moving about so much!!)

To fix that your going to have to either do a live pass and adjust the level of the vocal so it maintains it's place in the mix. Or better yet use your Daws automation to do it save it and whalla. The way I do it when I have this issue is to cycle a section of each verse in quick succession to check and adjust the levels so I'm getting the same energy from each verse. A good tip so you maintain overall controll over the level when you use automation, is to first route the output channel of the vocal track to it's own bus instead of the main outs or the vocals bus. then if you automate the level you can simply ue the bus fader if you need to pull the whole of that track level up or down. Either that or use a gainer plugin.

Next...your lead vocal is wayyyyyyyyyy too wet (unless this is the style yuou really want?) I personally didn't think the vocal ws too loud, but the balance of the track was not right. If you make the lead rap drier and do your automation it should sit better.

I would personally approach the mix again, starting with the drums and bass, then sit the vocal with how much effect you want and then bring in the rest of the supporting sounds to add the drama. The rapper has a good flow and tone so deserves to be the focus of the track, use a higher ratio on the comp to help it to sit high in the mix without taking up dynamic headroom, (this will also even the overall level out, as it's closer to limiting) but keep the attack pretty fast and the release fast to medium so as not to kill the rythm, the gain reduction meter should effectively bounce with the rap flow.

Hope that helps.
