Critique my mix...(indie/folky song)

hi,

this is my first time trying to mix a song i wrote and recorded. i'd appreciate if someone could listen to it and point out any glaring issues they find with the mix and suggestions on how to fix or improve on it. Thanks.

Sing and song (indie) stuff is dead man. You need to add Roland Space Echo and Jupiter 6. Nothing wrong with the song - like the build up, very basic but it works. I think the arrangement is a little boring now and thin sounding but the song is good. It's not a Hit and you will not get rich and die trying like 50 cents but then again who cares. Thanks for sharing!

mix wise, it's obviously pretty sparse... BUT I think more attention to the voice (since that is obviously the lead instrument here) is in order...I would compress it much more as well as EQ better so that it will showcase the nuances in your voice (which is pretty nice)... you can probably use a narrow Q and sweep around until some magic happens... also I am all for out-of-tune voice as far as character is... but I would be a bit pickier and not allow the majority of the vocals to dip into out-of-tune land as it might distract form the song... nice track...

I liked your song and I wondered if it could use a little more energy. I thought the mix was nice, but I do hear some kind of noise in there, like maybe a computer fan that you picked up while tracking. Otherwise, nice sounds, and I liked the string parts.

I feel the vocals should be standing right out front. And the strings don't gel right. They sound very "strange" and have this funny room tone to them.

The acoustic is wide as hell, and I'd be hard pressed to find a better way to make it wider than the phasing you used.

Also the percussion is really weak sounding. It's just kinda there....
In mono the vox sounds great.

It's a really cool song though.
