alternative slow melancholic rock song from vienna. what do you think?

salute,

I would like to know what you guys overseas think about this song? How do you like:

- the songwriting
- the production and mixing
- the mood/ vocals/ lyrics

do you think it has some commercial potential? If yes, do you have some contacts?

I also have an album teaser of the complete album:

Leonard Cohen fan perhaps?

Sounds good to me.
If I had to pick something out that bothers me...
The guitar in the intro sounds out of time with the brushy drum stuff. Otherwise all the tones are nice. I like the production tidbits..
I could maybe stand to hear a bit more lows/ fullness in the vocal. Just to give it a bit more weight.
Otherwise I think it sounds cool.

Sounds great, the mood of the song is nice and melow. I kinda have something with the vocals, with the harmonies they do sound complete, though on its own they lack a bit more power or fullnes. Despite the timming at the very beggining its a cool tune, however the transition from the intro to the verse sounds kinda empty. The Chorus is very pleasing.
Good work dude

thanks for the kind words.

do you think the vocals could sound better from a technical point of view. I don't have much experiance with mics/preamps. For this track I used a pretty low cost type: a studio projects vtb-1 and a Rhode NT1000. But I EQ-t a lot. I am thinking about buying a better combination. Could it be much better with another mic/pre combination?

cheers

Sometimes you don't have to use the coolest mics ever. Whitney Houston ( not that I like her) on some hit albums she has she ended up using a shure SM58. It really boils down to what works the best with the singer. Try all you got. Rent a cool mic pre maybe. Maybe do more harmonies.

Good luck

For me... it's all about the song. I like the song. The production is fine (and secondary). I wouldn't have the break/pause at the first chorus for the "you" lyric.

I like the vibes and tremolo guitar. It sounds a lot like the later Dylan recordings. The vocals are stark though, and some sort of ambient treatment might be cool (kind of like the Lenois delay). I can't say if it has commercial appeal. Does any new music have commercial appeal? It seems like most people are just giving their music away.

I like the 2nd vocalist more than the first. I think a third vocal would help the vibe of the song too!

I like the mood of the song. I think the chorus could be a little more manic, and especially if you're going for something that's going to be marketable, you should give us the payoff! A big snare sound maybe at the "sometimes youre dreaming line"? Could you have added more moementum at that point? That's a cool violin solo, what is the effect?

The tympani sound is a little cluttered in the mix.

cool song though! thanks for sharing.
