Naama Kates. Tracked to 2". Vocals, piano, bass and drums all at the same time.
Guitar and cello were overdubbed.

Awesome but did you really use a sm7 for the lead vocals?

Nope. Lead vocals were tracked with a Telefunken 250.
The video footage is just from rehearsal in my studio.
Here's the video with the actual rehearsal audio (including the sm7 vox) in case you wanted to hear that "Before You Lose It" Rehearsal Video on Vimeo

Nice! A lot of Mazzy Star vibe going on there, and that's a good thing in my opinion. I love that type of music.

And to properly address the goal of this forum. This was an API/Studer combination.

Thanks. The majority of that drum tone is through the SM7 vocal track! (comp'd with a chameleon 7802)

This single is now on iTunes.
iTunes - Music - Before You Lose It - Single by Naama Kates

Telefunken ELAM250 on vox, Pair of u67's on piano, the majority of the drum tone is a u48 in front. All going thru an API into Studer and mixed IN Pro Tools. Enjoy.

I like it the music quite a bit.
Any chance of finding a hard copy? (Album/single on a CD/Vinyl?)

Thanks fellas!
Hey Adimus, the single is only available digitally as of now but we're planning on doing up the full length album on cd and, hopefully, vinyl.
Question though, what aspects of the hard copy make you prefer it? non-mp3? artwork?

Hi..all in all nice video, nice girl, nice song, but - sorry - the mix is not as great and clean as it could be. And last part of the song is squashed (overdone and bad limiting) to dead. Too bad. for this good song.

Hi Andreas--
Tell me how the mix could've been clean or great.

Overdone as in what? Too many instruments?
And there's no limiting on it.
It was mastered with an EMT compressor though.

Do you realize the sample audio in itunes has NO SINGING... Its a music section of the song...

Also the levels seem really low- was that on purpose?

Just curious!

So you decided not to ride the faders to really give the dynamic/volume change emphasis?

Riding up the quieter parts would dull the emphasis.
