I am digging this song, I love it when I actually enjoy what I am recording

I love the few times I think (wow, this is a great song, I'm not sure why it's not all that spectacular, but shes sexy as hell and really sells it in the song.

pretty much straight ahead rock tune, no triggers, grids, auto tune nada, just a rock band rocking.

and finally somebody let me record my house kit. (I was starting to wonder why I bought the damn thing)

My buddy borrowed all my "good " mics for drums and didnt return them before this session, so I had to improvise

421=kick
57=snare
mxl 990s=OHs
at4033=room mic,
I fairly happy with it

vocal is a scratch but Im digging it, cut it bono style with the pa in the CR and a hand held 58

no L1, buss compression or any kind of mastering on it

comments suggestions?

I love when girls are singing about cum - I like this song to man. The high-end is a little harsh though - Cool stuff brother! Keep it up!

I know it's not done yet, but:

I thought the cymbals sound funny.. perhaps the mp3 conversion? thats my guess..
Otherwise things sounded good. I heard some bad S'ssing going on with the VOx, but it probably doesn't matter since you said the're scratch vox anyhow.

Overall sounded pretty cool.

aw dude I LOVE the exhaling

The cymbal thing is the gate on the scratch vox opening up on big crashes, I heard it tonight in my car. sounds like doo-doo, but I'll fix it up

This song is crying for a producer.

Chorus anyone ?

The parts on their own are fine, but i´m willing to bet this was selfproduced by the band.

Yeah I'm digging it too! Of course one could tweak here and there and with that.... but... you catched a special moment, a special feeling and that's pretty invaluable, even the best tools and mixingtechnics can't do that! Maybe you could find a cool ME who gets the feeling for that vibe and give it that push I'm missing, anyway... congrats to your work!

aw, I dunno, it was certainly produced by the band I am recording it. I think the idea of catching a couple of minutes of a moment without all the "heres the bridge heres the chorus" thing is slightly refreshing, she's saying what she wants to say and it's done. its kind of cool in that respect. They have plenty of verse=chorus=verse=chorus=bridge=chorus stuff if you just cant stand to break from the norm for 2 and a half minutes.

I like it

i just hope I can get it to sound as good as it can

I just had one question, what did you mean by Bono-style when you recorded the vocal?

Bono-style= hand held 58 in the "null" of the monitors. trying as hard as I can to approximate a live feel

no headphones, just singing in the CR. This girl in particular, as well as a lot of other singers hold back and don't perform as well with the cans on. I'm trying to make her more comfortable, in the hopes it will improve her performance
