Jazz Fusion Project

I'm new to the site and would like some opinions on a bunch of my work. Here's the first tune. If you like it, check out some more of my stuff at Clay Stiles - Home

Hey Clay,
I really like what I hear. Nice performances, interesting composition. Mix sounds good. A couple of places (2:38, 3:11 for example) felt the level changes were noticeable in a slightly distracting way. I also would love to hear an instrument take a longer solo (x2 or x3 maybe) to develop a bit more. Seemed transitions didn't allow development of ideas so much.

I'm a jazz player wannabe, never studied, so take all with a grain of salt. Also very new at audio mixing (audio engineer wannabe...) so there's that too.

All in all, I really like it. Listened a couple of times, look forward to your website material.

Peace,
Perry

Cool. In like it. Smokin' chank guitar. Reminded me of Wayne Krantz for a minute. I like the sound of the drums. I'm not sure about the alto. Maybe I don't like the reverb. He sees to have his own, which makes it sound too independent form the group.

But I liked the overall sound, vibe and playing.

I'm surprised you have only had two comments on your works as it is very very good, I really like it! I grew up listening to my fathers jazz music, artists such as Jimmy Smith, Count Basey etc.. if this was released I would definitely buy it. Superb! Thanks Guys

Hey,

Thanks for the feedback everyone, it's really helpful.

Mike, this tune is from an EP called A Modest Proposal by my band LP Stiles. The album was released about a year ago and is definitely available on iTunes if you want to check it out. Thanks again for the kind words.
