I like PL-2. The train wreck in PL-1 put me off a little IMHO the beats could do with some tightening up, but if its all about northern lights then maybe not... |

Hey thanks for the comments, yeah a little more mixing is in order,I will remix the drums maybe some parrallel comping is in needed, though a bit of smoothness is what I'm after in these 2 tracks, still getting used to my new stereo output chain too. What did you mean by the train wreck though, just interested. Anymore comments please. |

Beats are nice particularly liked the second, bass sounds really tight, rap needs some really tight compressed doubles and triples.

I tried to convince him of that for these tracks but.....he's pretty keen on giving it more of a live type of flow instead of making tha vox sound too dominant and detracting from the beats as its a pretty fast track, I agree with him now too. Was only a rough mix, sounding much better now after some avalon ad2055 eq and al smart comp on the vox and beats and some pendulum limiting on the loops. The mic he uses is a $50 akg mic.I even gave him a rode condenser to do the vox with but he likes his akg for the dirt factor. Even the loops were tracked with the same mic carefully placed in front of his home stereo speakers(uh huh,im serious).Sounds cool eh.Though the beats are done with an akai mpc2000. We'll be getting a bass player (Craig Calhoun) to do a few lines too. I dunno ,everything always just seems to work in the end when we finish projects, they usually sound great no matter how they were tracked.Though I do my best to convince all people who I mix and produce for to bring thier tracks sounding as clean as possible but..... Poet Laureattes tracks usually always work in the end,I just make em work. !st album will be released in Australia in April this year ,2nd is almost finished too and will be released in October somewhere abouts on "Reverberation Records" (check website for info) Revised mixes posted in the first post. |
