Indie pop and black metal mixes. Please comment.

Hi all!
Long time lurker, first time poster here!
I just I thought I should share a couple of recordings I recently finished.

Even though they are done and delivered, it would be awesome with some late feedback from experienced listeners

First off is the indie pop-band Miss the Point...I was really impressed by them...all girl members, and pretty young. It was a real pain to get the right sound though...a lot of blood, sweat, tears 'n overtime But anyway...download the songs at:

The second band is Fimbultyr, melodic Black Metal. Pretty good considering the members are between 16-19 years old This genre is more my cup of tea, so the mixing was a lot easier...finished it just a few days ago.
Downloadable at:

I'd appreciate any comments!!
Best regards!

Hello.

I will concentrate just on the BM-Mix since i am really 'in the mood' for that kind of music right now.

Drums : I think they are sounding too much triggered and un-natural which is not benefitting this band because the whole drums are not as tight as they should be for that kind of sound. I think you should try to use different, more realistic samples (maybe a deeper snare and a bassdrum not that much typewriter style) to let the recording get a bit more organic. The blastbeats sound more like a funny machine then like drums. I do not think of triggered drums when having the image of a deep dark wood in my head where some trolls are running amok or stuf flike that (which is what a lot of those bands are singing about). This stuff hast to sound down to earth in my eyes (ears).

Bass : Its audible and you can hear what the guy place. But to me it sounds a bit too much inconsistent - i often add some slight distortion to a bass to make it more 'sit' in the mix.

Guitars : Hmmm. Pretty much the usual cold sound. Could in my eyes also have been deeper and more dirty or sludgy with more bottom end. I know that musicians do not really want that. The problem is that not much bands (or producers) dare to brake the rules of this genre to maybe put it a step higher. This was no offense to you. I am listening to BM for over 10 years now and just a few albums were really inspiring soundwise.

Keys : Did you use delay to spread the keys more? It does not sound like THAT heroic like it maybe should. But this may also be problem of the used sounds. For me the keys are a bit too loud in the mix for that kind of sounds [my GF plays Keys in a deathmetal band and i know what i am talking about. Haha].

Vocals : I like the clean vocals but the screamed stuff is standard. The clean vocals could have benefitted from some additional voices or doublings.

All in all i like what you did and concerning the young age of this band its pretty nice stuff.

I will upload some deathmetal mix i am working on soon. Maybe you like to add some feedback to that.
