Thread Starter | CRC IS NOT THE BEST STUDIO IN CHICAGO
I did another mix of this song.....if anyone of you remeber the first mix. I changed a lot of things. Real Piano/ New bass/ and buss comped the fux out of the Drums. last mix was done at CRC this one @Wall2Wall here in Chicago. Killer studio I might add |

Nice song! And Nice mix! Very good. Just a couple of things. Are the delay on the vox needed? Does it add anything? I don't think so. Also, the release on the snare gate is too short/the snare is overdriven sort of, one of those things makes it have a less than natural decay, it's a bit disturbing, but I like the sound of the snare itself very much, and i don't think it's too dark. Also one deadly sin does occur at 1:17, SPLASH CYMBALS You could be arrested for that! And two hits in a row? thats a capitol offense! All in all- great drums! The Bassdrum has a pretty natural sound which I like. But I also think it's too dead, it could ring more, and it's a bit too clicky for my taste. The sound of the acoustics reminds me very much of an old Pat Metheny record on ECM called As falls whichita, so falls whichita falls- I like that. Very much! The fx vocals->back too normal vocals at 2:42 sounds a bit weird. But theres so much cool stuff happening here. thumbsup And I love the Cellos! |

The delay on the vox needs to be automated... the splash is odd there with the double hit.... make the drums less in your face and hide them with some verb! But I think its a good mix...

I'd like to hear some slap-back echo on the Vox, along with a much larger acoustic space for it. The overall balance was good, but it's a little "dry" for me. Considering the title of the song I'd like to hear some more "text painting" in the processing. I don't mean to be too critical, it just doesn't have the feel of the song title.

dude phukin awesome mix.....i'm a beginner but i know what i like. vox were my favorite part, what ever delay you used WORKS and i like what you did with them when everything cuts out except vox and cello(right?). all the strings were smooth and complementing. piano sounded great. the ONLY possible thing i would think about changing is the sound of the toms, they seem a little papery, cardboard sounding for my taste but OPINIONS ARE LIKE A**HOLES everyone has one peace! |
