That was a bit harsh... though he does have a point that there are plenty of cases where parents use their children for their own marketing campaign and benefit. She looks like she's enjoying it though... I just hope you don't push her too hard. Good luck!

Thanks guys...and I had nothing to do with the shooting, editing or content of the video. The video producer interviewed her and he took a few shots in the studio.

On another note..the console pictured in the video as a custom made all tube console by inward connections. VERY cool console!

(for some reason, quoting the above post doesn't work?!?)

re: their dreams, not yours - good. My oldest son is her age, and has been playing and composing (on piano) for a few years now. As a result of my being pushed by parents (and I thank(ed) them openly for that years later, but not way back as a kid) I can never pressure him too hard. I leave that to his teacher (a colleague/band mate of mine for decades) and she in turn facilitates his creative output by leaning on him to create new works for music festival adjudications.

All in all, kids have to develop at their own pace. One should not live their personal dreams through their children...

Man, I hate seeing stuff like that. When I was 13 I was still fascinated by boogers pretty much. It really demonstrates what a pathetic loser I am when I see 13 years olds more talented than me at almost four times their age. She has a very confident voice for any age it seems to me.

Joe Jackson much. Your daughters voice kills. She sounds very polished for her age. Just make sure you know what you're getting into. The music industry is way more than what it seems but you probably already know that.

What is the deal where every time someone posts something done very well by someone young that people immediately start screaming about how they are probably being beaten and tortured to make them perform? I mean the girl obviously enjoys singing and is having fun.

There was one where someone posted a video of a really young Korean girl who was really good on the classical guitar and people just went nuts, like they knew all about these people and were in a position to publically accuse them of all kiinds of stuff. That little girl also was obviously really enjoying performing and the reaction of the audience, but so many people just went straight to assuming that someone was applying a cattle prod to her or something, else obviously she couldn't be that good.

Thanks for the compliments on her voice.

As for the Joe Jackson comment...c'mon...really? You know nothing about me and for you to make that comparrison is pretty offensive. If I was an auto mechanic and I taught my kids to rebuild an engine would you make those types of assumptions?

I have been making a living in the music biz for over 20 years and some of my kids (my wife and I have 7) have asked for my help in something they are interested in doing. So I am helping them and giving them experience and opportunity they wouldn't have if I did something else for a living.

She's very talented. If I hadn't seen her I would have thought she's at least 20 years old.
