Cool Girl Pop Punk rock... suggestions??

Hey This is the first cut of the song. I haven't mix rock in a while, so I would like to know if you feel I'm missing something. Its sound allrigth to me (for now) but Still doesn't feel there yet. Any suggestion will be really appreciate it.

Did you track this too? Vocals sound really good.

Though I'm not qualified to do so , I would suggest that the vocal melodies could use a few variations...

Sounds really good to me.

Cool tune !

the vocals do sound pretty good.

I would like to hear the drums sculpted out a bit more.... i think a little more attack on the snare.
maybe some more mids in general on the overheads
It all sounds a bit thin? under the vocals.. the guitars....the drums...

In general I think it a good song and the mix pretty good, just needs a little more power and definition.

Yes, for this song I did, drums programing, bass, synth and some guitar, plus recording and Mixing. I also think that the melody of the voice is to simple, but the producer liked it that way, so....stays like that.

I try working on the drums a little bit more and the guitars.

Thansk a lot for yur replys

Anything else, before remixing

The snare sounds a little dry compared to the toms. Guitars need some more meat to them. Thats all I see that could be improved. How did you program the drums?

I used Reason's Redrum, with multiple layer of my own drums samples, I used 4 or 5 snare sound, 2 kick sounds, toms and 4 diferent H-H sound and 10 stereo cymbals ( I think I ended up using 3 Redrums) to create a more natural sound, then rewired it to Protools, and go them thru some pre ( pretty much how I would do it with a real one) and inside Protools I used some comp and Eq.

I'll be remixing it later today and I'll be using your advises, so if anybody else has anything to say before I go back, this is the time

Thanks alot

Adrian

This isn't my genre, but don't you think the vocals don't sit so well in the mix? MAybe just to loud...I dunno. Perhaps this is just expected in this genre...anyhow, that was my impression.

I think maybe the vocals were originally recorded with a fairly low gain and then brought up later in the mixer or they were too far from the mics. There is not enough sparkle to the voices. They sound good and they're on pitch. They just sound too subdued to me. I'm also learning, but I have learned that guitars and vocals have more overtones and life if they are recorded fairly close, but not so close as to produce bass boost and with gain fairly high but not near the dreaded digital distortion.
If you could comment on my song: "song inspired by emotions". I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Chuck

Cool, thanks for your comments, the vocals were recorded at nice level and I didn't have to put any extra gain, and she wasn't that far away from the mic (she was inches). So if you could be more specific of what your hear, so I can try to hear it too.

I've always felt that when you are gonna be singing in a fair amount of volume you shouldn't put the mic that close, unless you wanna get a intimate feeling (at least thats my way of see it) which this song is not a intimate song at all.

In the case of guitars I use a close mic to the amp and most of the time an ambient mic away from the amp.

Thanks
