this is a song i mixed. im pretty happy with it. but there are a few things i wouldnt mind changing. please crituque it. rip it apart if you like. ve only really been doing this for about a year or so. this is a mix i did probably 6 months ago.

Hello imnickb,

I like the sound of the intro. Nice background pad/sample.
When the drums come in with the "rim stick-tick" they sound a bit out of time, like the ticks are lagging. That distracts me a bit.
Most obvious thing soundwise is that the voice is mixed (imo) too soft, especially the first line. You get used to the soft voice mix, but i think the first appearance of the voice shouldn't be "burried", it's the central element of the mix/song.
(isn't it ?).

I think you should shorten the intro and the middle instrumental part. There are not enough interesting things happening to justify the amount of space they take in the song.
That's no sound thing but also important.

compres the snare ratio at 10 make it snap more , bring it up in the mix, add some reverb to the vocals bring them up as well. compress everything a bit ratio at 4 with 3 to 6 db of reduction, sounds very cool nice jazz feel.
