Pop punk (New Found Glory, Four Year Strong, Mayday Parade...)

So guys, a while ago I had a thread up called Pop punk Pre Pro. Well we've made it to our EP, and here's the first track. It's faux mastered with a healthy dose of L2007.

Here's some info on the recording. It was tracked through a Sig modded 002r. 10 mics on the drums, kick is blended with a sample I made, and the snare is blended with Steven Slate Drums. The left rhythm guitar is an Orange Rockerverb 50, micd with an SM7 and an SM57. Right guitar is a POD X3 custom setting based off of the Treadplate (Mesa) setting. Bass is DI'd in with Sansamp. Other guitars were DI'd in and Eleven, except the octave lead in the first verse, that was an Orange AD30. Vocals were tracked with that huge Neumann tube mic, I don't remember which one, into a 737SP.

It was all mixed in the box, mainly with CLA and SSL plugs, plenty of Massey Tape head in there, and the master buss had a McDSP MC2000 4 band with a custom setting.

Any and all feedback is appreciated. I won't be mastering the final version, I'm not even sure if we're gonna go with my mixes, we might get the lovely and talented Luc Tellier to mix it.

Thanks guys

The only comment I have is on the second song itself. The guy in general will be a fool for dropping out of high school. Unless he gets lucky with the music thing.. which I doubt.

@alehoe
Thank you

@DavieB
A side effect of me smashing an L2007 on it, I won't be mastering it, thankfully

Hey Sam,

Great mixes,

Could You say something about mixing? What reverbs on drums, vocals? How mixed guitars and bass?

Thanks
