I tuned out for a while because I thought the thread was dead, but just looked it up and you guys are blowing my mind. thanks so much to everyone who has taken the time to do a mix on my song, I'm getting some really great ideas.

As it stands right now, this song and a couple other country-ish jams that I've had in my little black book are being incorporated into my band's new record which should be done in the next week or two, I'll definitely post a link when it's ready!

Thanks again to everyone, I'm really humbled at the response.

a little too overboard,, I don't think you have listened to every song posted here on GS! I have listened to a few and would say that this is not the best I've heard! It's a good song tho, but definitely no the best either!

I'm just amazed that this thread made it 4 pages before anonymous internet guy chimed in with an opinion that was against popular consensus! That usually happens within the first 3 posts, right? I think somewhere there is a U87 thread that is missing its hater.

I have heard and ascribe to the idea that a good effects setting is one that sounds good minus about 20%.

the ep is DONE

it took a little longer than I thought it would, but we finally finished up the ep and have it up on-line.

for those interested, you can download it for free here:
Download Surrogate - Diamonds and Pearls.zip from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way

or if you feel like supporting, you can buy it for $4.99 here:
DigStation Artist: Surrogate

I would love some feedback on the record if anyone is so inclined!

Thanks,
Chris

GREAT STUFF!

Still love the track you shared earlier but also really dig Old Life, Diamonds & Hope, Alaska. I hear a lot of things that remind me of this or that from old records I love but it all sounds fresh. Must be the songwriting – good hooks, good changes, good lyrics.

Congratulations! I hope you can get this out there far and wide!

Thanks for sharing it

Thanks so much! Yeah, we've been getting a hand full of reviews and they've all been pretty positive but that's pretty much the extent of us getting it out there. It's pretty much just a project for fun.

Absolutely love the mix on 'I can't go home' and the rest of the songs are kickass too - was really happy to hear it, was wondering what the other material would be like and was not disappointed yet intrigued as I want more! Very promising.

Awesome song and some really great mixes out there.

I was wondering if you would mind putting up the stems again so I could pick them up to practice with?

I also automated the lead vox and EQed it a little differently to give it more clarity. Boosted the hi mids around 500-700htz. what do you all think?
I genuinely think this is the best thing I've heard since i joined gearslutz. Absolutely fantastic. I love everything from the arrangement and performance right down to the mix. Stunning!

Please tell me where I can buy this or at least listen to more of your stuff?

Cheers, Mark.

Song and production is spot on, love it... Both vocal versions are nice, like them both... I think I prefer the bigger space'y'er vocal, OP mix was fine...
