A little Rock/Hard Rock, Any comments :)

Hey all... Recently finished up a song ive been working on.

Any thought son the mix or composition? I do everything on my own, from playing/tracking/singing to mixing (hobbyist). Any tips on how I can make it better?!?

Thanks for any suggestions.. I have a website, but its not finished, im just uploading some songs and getting enough material done to make it worthwhile!

Overall I think it sounds pretty good man. Everything is pretty well balanced and the guitars and vocals have nice tones.

With that said, I think the mix in general is lacking some punch. I also found the bass was disappearing on me at times and the kick drum seemed to be mostly attack. I tend to like burying the bass a little on some rock stuff myself, but I still try to have the bottom big enough to really thicken things up. The kick definitely seemed to be missing some meat too.

Just fyi, the headphones I'm listening on have a bump in the lows around 80-100hz and a slight drop around 250hz. So basically, I normally hear a little extra kick and a little less bass. I of course took that into account when listening but thought I'd let you know my source.

Oh and I had a couple of composition notes I forgot 2 add! The tune isn't really isn't my cup of tea so take it for what it's worth.

The intro was sloppy. I'd edit that so that everyone comes in at once. The 1st verse didn't start until like the 45 sec mark. I'm ok with long intros but I just personally don't feel that the instrumentation there is interesting enough to hold its own for that long. Lastly, I thought the lead guitar part turning into the guitar solo felt kind of awkward. I would have kept those separated. Maybe a different tone, have the solo guitar come in over the tail end of the lead part, have the solo sit a little higher in the mix... just throwing some ideas out there.

I enjoyed this man.

Nice vocals, gtr tone. I think the missing punch would come from having the drums sitting more prominent in the mix .

All by one, big points.

What gear did you use for guitar?

guitar = custom Ibanez guitar made by Christopher Woods ---> DMP3 Preamp ----> Cubase ----> Lepou Legion amp Sim ----> Lepou Cab (impulse loader) with stock ALU impulses (sound great)

and thats it.

If you guys havent tried out the Lepou amp sims, I highly recommend it. He does some AMAZING freeware plugins that IMO sound better then the pricy amp sims , at least for high gain stuff
