Why can't I upload an MP3?

Hm. I'm trying to upload a solo from a song I wrote and am producing with my band. The limit is 6 MB and this 4.9. FAIL.

Re: Why can't I upload an MP3?

Are their other variable restrictions such as bitrate/sample rate?

Hm. I didn't see anything about bit rate/sample rate restrictions. It's an MP3 so already it's 44.1/16. No?

The file is definitely 44.1/16bit. But I tried it at 320 kbs, then 256 and then 192.

Nobody has any ideas?

Has the size limit changed? Is each person given only a limited amount and I've reached passed mine?

I'm just a poor jazz musician without a website.

The board checks MP3 ID tags and won't let you upload an MP3 file if any file you've previously uploaded has the same tag info. I don't know all the fields checked, but I think it's Artist, Album, and Title. I had this happen and after I changed these ID3 tag fields the upload worked.

Interesting. I don't thnk any of those should be tagged. Hm. They're DP files of my music, so unless DP tags them in ways I don't know. How would I change this? Obviously I'm understanding the technology here.

Home - ID3.org

For all I know it'll treat files that aren't tagged the same way, so you can't upload more than one MP3 with blank fields. I don't know if Digital Performer edits tags, but I'm sure you have software to do it. Windows explorer lets you edit by opening file properties and selecting the Summary tab, and iTunes library is and MP3 tag editor.

OK. I glanced through the data. Thanks. But where is it that I can view and change the ID3 data, if there is any? I haven't seen any evidence. This didn't go through iTunes o any other format. I encoded it MP3 with the format I got online some years ago and use in DP.

I thought we had it. I had a good guy try and help me. I downloaded an MP3 ID3 Tag editor and edited the tag, but to no avail. Perhaps it's just a bug in the GS site. I certainly don't want to bug Jules about this. It's no big deal, it's just frustrating to be stopped by technology. What I need is a website so I can just throw up a link. But I'm lame. So what? LOL.

From past experience, if an mp3 file upload fails on a website, it usually means the allotted space is full. I bet Jules just has to make some space.

Happens sometimes. There is a similar report on the Remote forum just now. Temporary server issue, I would assume. Wait and see.

I really don't want to bug Jules about this. Just such a trivial matter, really. Will YOU bug Jules for me and leave my name out of it?

Sure, I'll tell him you told me not to mention your name...
I'm pretty sure he'll notice. Or is the upload urgent?
No use bothering with tags, though. If at all, the forum software will complain if you are trying to upload the same file twice.

No. It's not important AT ALL. Just the greatest guitar solo yet done! LOL. Just kidding. Nothing at all important. Just a little preview of the day music changed forever. LOL.

Well DAYUM, I wanna hear it! I've seen you on this board (as well as the incredibly ill-fated, Studioforums) for years, and have never heard any of your music I'll bookmark this thread in hopes of hearing these ripping solos!
