Contemporary Folk Hymn

This was written by my collaborator, Todd Blodgett. I've come to belive very much in this song, and I belive you will understand why if you listen. I'm in the early stages of assembling this piece, with percussion and Uilleann Pipes yet to go. Kindly let me know your impressions as comments at this stage of the game may well open my eyes for the remaining production stages of this piece, So Close.

Best,

John-

Beautiful guitar intro - sweet tone. When the bowed doublebass entered I almost had to turn around to check that there wasn't one behind me to my right. Nicely recorded. The vocal harmonization is excellent, and another sweet aspect of the piece... watch out for the bit of sibilance in the main vocal.

At 2:35 the distorted gtrs sliding in from each side are an awfully big change in style... I'll have to listen a few times to get the feel of that part.

Thanks for the comments, Tim. As for the pedal steel guitar, I may certainly have over done the mix in this regard but I'm looking for a dramatic flair here. By that point in the song, the (yet to be recorded) Uilleann pipes will have been introduced alongside the arco bass and the percussive groove established on the choruses. In other words the lead towards to pedal solo shouldn't be so stark - I'm hoping.

Thanks for the listen, Tim.

Best,

John-

Great work! Really like that idea with the distorted guitars!
Very nice vocal performance and a cool ending!

I will come back soon and check for "an improved version" of the song!
