New song mixed with Harrison MixBus

Hey there,

"Ain't From Around Here" was tracked in Logic, mixed in Harrison MixBus and the final edits were done in Bias Peak LE. This is a new-country demo and the vocals are mixed louder on purpose, for the Nashville market. Hope you enjoy it, leave me any comments as I'm always looking to improve - thanks!

Hey,

I'm listening through headphones at work, so I'm not going to be too critical about the whole mix. But, it sounds small, and too much compression for this style of music, especially noticeable on the drums. The vocals are WAY too loud, and she has no feeling in her voice. It sounds like she is reading straight from a piece of paper, and not putting anything into the song. Vocal is too dry and not fitting into the song. It actually sounds like she is standing in her living room, singing to a backing track into a cheap kareoke machine.

If you can make the mix sound bigger and more interesting, lower the vocal and fit it into the track better, and see if she can re-sing it with some feeling, then the song would work. Not a bad song, just not liking the production much. I hope I don't come off as too critical...I'm just giving my opinion.

i have to agree that the vocals are wayyyyy to loud. i know the "nashvegas market" needs loud vocals but this mix is a bit much. at points it completely drowns out the music.

overall it could use a lot of work before being a "final mix"

just some constructive criticism. thanks

the instruments sound flat and not very dynamic. especially with the vocals way up there in the mix. much like the others had to say, i think you can get a better performance out of the singer. sounds like they are singing the words for the first time over a karaoke track.

sounds like you got some great tones on the guitars though. thumbsup
