Hi guys, spent a while on this... none of the drums are resampled as I think they sound good enough as is.. Please can you give me some feedback on the mix.

Overall, it's not bad at all. My first impression was that it doesn't sound "beefy" enough. I feel like the low's were rolled off too much. The guitars need to sound bigger. I would boost some lows and dip some mids. It sounds like the guitars have some reverb on them - if they do, lessen it up (most of the time I don't even use reverb on distorted guitars in metal songs - I feel like it takes away from "edge") Also, the snare is way too compressed. It sounds very squashed. The vocals have a unique quality to them as far as performance goes. A lot of the vocals were doubled up and there are a lot of imperfections, but I'm on the fence of whether I'm digging it or not. Creates a cool texture though. The toms need more life to them, so I would, again, boost the lows or low-mids. The bass sounds too thin and needs to be raised in the mix. I personally feel like the hi-hats are too loud, some people like that - I personally don't. But overall dude the mix sounds good. Just do some tweaking and polish it up a bit.

timing

Everything needs to be lined up or replayed its ok to have some timing issues here and there, it adds feel but, this is a little much. This may seem off subject but line some things up and see how much your mix clears up. I often find myself thinning out the low end when there are timing issues; it sounds like what you've done here.
good luck

Cheers

Thanks for the feedback. I have rolled off the low end on some of the guitars. Mainly because the guy had a low end enhancer that couldn't be switched off on his amp. It made the guitars extremely rumbly and pretty horrible. I may try and line a few things up also. I knew the bass was a bit low also but the band wanted it lower in the mix unfortunately. This is probably one of the better metal mixed I have done but as you all noticed it still has a way to go.. I run a small studio from a converted double garage and have minimal equipment so I don't think it's a bad effort considering.
Thanks for the feedback so far. It's much appreciated.
