Dutch folk.

A folk-song. In Dutch. I know some of the bad points but I'm sure someone can point some more things out and tell me what to do about it.
Thanx!

Wow, good singer! I would love to know what this song is about.
Any chance of getting a "non-dutch" version of the lyrics?

Other than that: It´s loud and clear. Everything is well balanced and
good sounding. Just some (small) details that i would´ve changed.

Love the tremolo guitar in the beginning.

Give us some infos about equipment and musicians.

The band is mainly about the singer Sophie. She has my age(23) and this band is here final exam for (how do you say it in english?) "folkschool". The pianist and the gitarist are two friends of mine with who I played in punkrock bands..
The song is called Camare Mio and Sophies' explanation is that a camare is nothing really existing. You can think of it what you want to think it is. But it's mainly a love-song. The last word of a sentence is always the fisrt word of the next sentence, so it wouldn't be impossible to translate it to another language. It wouldn't work.

Gear used:
Protools HD|2 with C|24
Bass: Fender Jazzbas straight into DI input from Millenia Stt-1
Drums: 2 AKG C414 as "underheads" + sm57 on snare + tlm103 on kick(50cm in front) I moved the AKG's around to make my balance.
Guitar: TLM 103
Percussion: Km184
Vocals: Rode NTK
Honky tonk: DI-inputs from c|24

What are the small details you would change?

Well, i was thinking of two tiny changes when i first heard the song..

The first one was that sixteenth-notes-line of the guitar... I thought
it was a little too disctracting. But now i´ve been listening to the song
for three times - and it´s good! No change needed...

Second detail: The singer is very close. Too close, maybe... I´m not sure
if a good reverb (room) would sound good. Maybe a different mic...?

I think the honky-tonk is way cool! Sounds like a steeldrum...for me...

Been takin a look at your website. Great name for a studio!

Yes, that's what I was doubting too: the singer is maybe indeed too close. Maybe the whole song needs some reverb. I listened to edith piaf as a reference and her songs are one and all reverb on the vocals. But I liked this approach too and that's why I didn't change it. It's not a regular folk-sound to me. But maybe some more reverb on the vocals wouldn't hurt, right?..

Thanks for the compliments on the studio-name.
I don't know where in germany you're from but your welcome to visit!

Yep, neither the sound or the song reminds me of folk-music. Maybe it´s
"chanson"? Or maybe it´s just a good song?

Will you try the reverb thing?

Visiting your studio? Well, why not... I´m located in Mainz (close to
Frankfurt). So the ride shouldn´t take too long. 4 hours or so...

I consider this project as finished. So I will try to change this for myself later but the product has allready been delivered to the client. If I have time I'll change it and post it again here.

Are you coming to the Benelux superslutz meeting?

event that i shouldn´t miss.

Galaxy Studios? Woohoo!

I´ll better keep an eye on that thread...
