I can't listen to the clips since I am at work, but they ideally should be able to sit together given that you close miked the guitar amps. I know a lot of professional bands that record guitars at home because the room isn't that important when close miking such a loud instrument. If you EQ and comp it right they will sit fine.

is there anyway you can post, say one you think is the best or one that has the most problems on here or a download site?

myspace is sooooooo bad, the mix sounds like it has distortion on it.

Cheers guys for your recommendations, Is sound cloud a good player? I will upload the tracks onto that if it is.

I only have a sm58 to record the guitar and I am well aware i need to spend more money on a better mic. Will a mic like a coles or royer 121 give me a much better sound? I heard that its good to blend one of those with an sm57.

Is the sm57 much better for miking guitars than the 58?

Cheers for the replys so far.

Edit: what file format would you like the song in?mp3 320kbps? Wav?.

Hi Guys

Please see the above questions.

To the poster above, did you listen to the myspace recordings? I can't hear that much distortion on them but obviously they aren't as good as the wavs. Can you pm me your email address, ill send it to you over soundcloud. Don't really want to share the file with everyone on the net.

What i am getting at is will the sound be much clearer once there has been some professional mastering on the tracks? Or is it too difficult from hearing myspace tracks to make a valid judgement?

Thanks in advance

Well.. Those myspace tracks don't sound good.
If I'm gonna comment on those.. what studio are those drums recorded in? because it sounds like they are buried in carpets. And the balance ain't there.
I would say that you need to tighten it up and remix.
cheers!

yeah, mixes don't sound that hot.

I use only a 57 on miking guitar. If you produce the guitars right you will get an amazing sound. I know a lot of pro engineers that use only 57's on guitars. It is all about placement.

Weve got a guy with a sound engineering degree doing the mixing. What would you suggest to tighten the sound up, which songs etc? Not being funny but would be interested in more detail as to how you would change it. Do you mean everything or one song please be specific.

Is there a massive difference between a sm58 and a sm57? I used a 58 although i know this isn't ideal. I was thinking of getting a coles 4038, has anyone on here got experience of recording guitars with one of these. I want to capture my valve amp properly and the 58 just dosen't cut it for me.
