Vocal effetcs help and suggestions? (clip included)

Hey guys-

Hoping you guys can help me out with this- please, no critiques on the song or mixing just yet, as there IS no mixing or compression or EQ or anything on any tracks in this, they're all raw. I'm looking for someone to help suggest the following things, know that I want there to be a big punch at the chorus, and separation between it and the verses. Obviously a large part of that will just be building a two-tiered mix, but I can also do it with effects.

I was thinking of doing something spacious with delay and reverb on the vocals in the chorus but the many tests I've run have really not wowed me at all. I do want the vocals to be big and in your face, but also very spacious and perhaps somewhat echoey. (If you've heard the chorus in "Alter the Ending" by Dashboard Confessional, that's what I'm going for).

I've included the tail end of the verse for a few seconds and then the first part of the chorus for your listening perusal.

Help!

It's an unlikely place to find it, but there are actually some really good tips in this article: http://www.ehow.com/how_5090101_mix-vocals.html

I appreciate the link and response, but I already know a lot of general tips and tricks, but I want to get suggestions on which specific effects to apply here based upon what others think might sound good.
