Thread Starter | Could the veterans have a listen to this? Hey there, we, being my band and I, just recorded this in our home setup and I had a go mixing the song. This is my 3rd attempt at mixing a song properly so I'm hoping to get some feedback from the seasoned mixers out there. I think there is some clipping because I suck at mastering and just threw a limiter on with some slight (<2 ratio) mid and low band compression, however nothing in the meters is clipping so I'm guessing it might be intersample? I did really like the dynamics that were there before the limiter went on but it just wasn't very loud, so I will most likely get a pro to do a proper mastering job on it when I'm happy with the mix. I tried very hard this time not to boost eq unless I really had to, so the only boosts are on the kick, snare, OHs and vocal, and even then we're only talking about 3-4 db, the rest of the EQ is cutting. The snare sounds a bit like a machine gun, and that was how it was recorded, so not sure what to do there. I mostly used UAD plugs including EMT250 for the reverbs, SSL 4K channel strip for a lot of the tracks, a Fatso JR on the master (no compression jsut the warmth set to 3), and some standard reaper plugs for others if that helps at all. Cheers guys and thanks for any feedback. |

Thread Starter | Yeah, some more reverb on the snare in part II would be a good call, thanks for the comments. |
