New Song, Space Girl, Check it out

Got a new track rolling here. I guess you could throw it in the "popular music" category.

What do you guys think of the song and/or mix? Did I miss anything?

I didnt listen to the song on my monitors but I like it as a whole. Its sounds real cool. I love the snare. There's a lot going on everywhere. This gotta be the kind of song that ends up getting choped by Kanye

May I ask how you got the vocal effect in the intro?

Thanks. Yeah the vocal effect is a combination of 2 tracks. In Logic 9, I use their EVOC vocoder for one track, but the more up front track has a chain involving a compressor, microphaser, a little distortion, a chorus effect, EQ boosting the highs quite a bit, but most importantly Logic's Vocal Transformer. I just recorded myself saying the part, then adjust the formant down -2.

Thanks for the love.

Really like the low end. Like the song too (in special, the solo part).

I think its a bad idea to crush such genre, even for pop rock this limiting is too much. low end has zero punch and the mix is blurred and clipping.

Mp3 conversion also has to do with this but you should seriously use more dynamics, people might enjoy the song when first heard but they'll get bored pretty quick couse the emotion is missing.

Probably you got the vocals a bit too high but I'm not sure with current version. Anyway, good songs deserves good mastering

touche, yeah just trying to do it all. I'd love to get somebody to mix and master my tracks, but I make like one of these a week and don't have the money for it.

Thanks for the input.

Thats ok, just save the mixes (in .wav format) in case someday you want to get more serious with what you do.

Keep in mind mastering is a lot cheaper than it was few years ago, maybe not the best but there are engineers who provide good quality online mastering. Most of them are ok with sending demo's so basicly you just send the mixes to the one's that are affordable and pick the engineer that suits best to your ears.
