Thread Starter | a Pop/Rock mix needs feedback
I've got fatiqued ears and need some advice on this short mix. (It's just the ending...) 2shared - download tired_ears_mix.mp3 (down a bit, save file to your pc) I find it very hard to mix this track because the arrangement is not that good. In some places the guitar, piano and organ nearly plays exactly the same thing. That's bad right? ( Also, the mic pre's they used to record with did really hurt my ears till I got rid of all the nasty frequencies. It took me like days and hours and now my ears are broken...Fantastic! I think I need to sleep and heal.. Thanks anyways /Martin Last edited by martinforest; 9th November 2009 at 12:37 PM.. Reason: typo |

Sorry fella, I'm rushing over to the studio now - tried to download a copy to take with and stick on the main monitors and all it gave me was pop-ups for gambling sites? Ear Fatigue. Wow, sounds like you've REALLY been pushing the hours. I sympathise my friend - you gotta be carefull. Is THIS band in particular worth you permanently comprimising your hearing by even 1%? We need every edge we can get in this line of work. Look after yourself. But, it's trap we've ALL fallen into at some point with the pressures of this job. Best advice I can give to finish the mix with ear fatigue is to find some tonally similar reference material and flick back and forth at REALLY low volume, around 75db or something, (or WELL under the level you can clearly hold a conversion if you have no Metering) and then make decisions based on the differences you hear. AND, remember - if you HAVE ear fatigue right now then your mix is probably better than you are actually able to hear so don't be too hard on yourself. I wish you the best of luck, rad |

Hey, just wanna say thanks...and you're right. I need to take better care of both my ears and myself I suppose. This song haunts me. And to everybody else: don't listen to this crap, it'll blow your brain out. I must sleep now. thanks again... |
