Song recorded in my home studio. No super slutty gear. Video was filmed in our practice space and around our town. (filmed by some super talented friends) YouTube - Ancient Tongue - "The Hard Road" - OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO (p.s.- how do I embed the video itself into a thread, rather then just the link?) |

Very impressed by the video (quality and concept), music (good message, great music). It's a nice change-up from the hip hop we've been bombarded with through mass media outlets. Great job on the recording / mix; sounds nice and balanced and clear on my imac speakers. I loved how you steered clear of overproduction and kept things nice and dry.

It's OK. Engineering isn't everything that makes a GREAT track. But I like it and I'm VERY "exacting" (English translator). (I would like this track to have more energy from the vocal part. I understand the concept but still...). Then it would be GREAT.

Hey guys thanks for all the repiles. This is our first video, first album and the first album Ive ever fully wrote, recorded and produced. Im definately happy with the end product. I think if this is just the beginning to our journey, then we're off to an OK start.

If anyone cares, we used ProTools 6.4. , Waves plugins Vocal Chain: Sm7b-> GT Brick -> Dbx 160A All guitars, Rhodes and Keys were recorded through and Ampeg ReverbRocket II, using the same chain as above. Bass Guitar: GT Brick -> DBX 160A Percussion: Sm7b-> GT Brick -> Dbx 160A (you guessed it) the end. |

Yeah yeah I know... A friend of mine came across this video when he was looking for our video on Youtube. Ive never heard of them, I dont think theyre that big in the US, not NY anyways, but apparently theyre HUGE in Austrailia and Europe. Oh well, we already shot the video and released the album.... what can you do...

Cool song and video. Dont worry about the resemblence in the videos, there is only so much you can do at the DIY level video wise, and not look like someone elses video in some places. Good work. The only advice I could give you, is dont start the video with that long silence you have, it made me reach for my volume, only to have to turn it back down. People automatically will wonder whats wrong with the audio, and you dont want that as first impression when they click your video. So take that first few seconds of silence out or, throw in some fitting audio there, I think it'll make a nice difference for your video, even if you have to start over with views/comments. Longrun, it'll be worth it. |

Pretty nice, could you give me some insight on how you recorded the drums? Is it all elctronic? did you use drumkit? if so: what mics how many mics, what preamps/interfaces. Im lookin to improve my own drumkit Peace |

All of the drums are programmed. Mostly done in fruity loops. Some of the samples were run through my MPC60II first, then arranged in fruity loops. All of the hand percussion (conga, bongo, djembe, cajon, etc. was tracked using SM7B's or SM57's (close mic'd). Preamps were GT Bricks and DBX 160 Compression. I also used Massey Tape Head, for a little bite, and Waves IR-1 for some depth. Thats about it. The whole album was tracked in my home studio. not very slutty, but we're happy with the results |
