Thread Starter | AUDIO SAMPLES - API512c - SCA n72 - SCA C84 - TASCAM FW1884 - HCL A2 Hi, I've been recording some audio samples of my studio preamps. Guitars are recorded with a mesa boogie triaxis, vht 292 power amp and Bogner V30's cab. Shure Beta57 is the mic used. The pre's are the following and it sounds in that order: API 512c Seventh Circle Audio N72 - Neve 1272 Clon Seventh Circle Audio C84 - Millenia Clon Tascam FW1884 preamp Hand Crafted Labs Affinity a2 - ukranian tube preamp. In the first sample there is a mono guitar of a mythic guitar riff and each preamp sounds about 2 seconds. 24 bits and 44.1 KHz wav format. MONO GUITAR In the second sample the guitars are doubled. DOUBLED GUITARS What preamp do you like?

| I like the 512C samples and the N72.... 512C seems to def have more of a mid boost, almost more bite. N72 seems slightly thinner but i sense more highs/clarity. FWIW... |

| Nice test - thanks for sharing. I have a Tascam FW-1884 and am about to upgrade to a nice pre. I've been looking at all of those except the Millenia clone. |
