| The recording quality seems ok from the outset. It's the mixing that gets me. Seems the guitar is too high in the mix and is taking away from the vocals. The recording of the guitar sounds as if it could be really nice, but the way it's sitting above the vocals like this is a little harsh. Also, im not sure about the vocal effects (can i hear a bit of long delay?) but I can't be sure of how unsure i am of them until the guitars a bit lower.

Thread Starter | Thanks for the reply. I was never too into my voice. I suppose thats why i have the guitars mixed a little higher than the vocals. I did throw a stereo delay on the vocals (which could probably be turned down a bit) |

| Well you're having better luck than I? A lot of people have listened to mine but they refuse to comment :-( And I've posted on some other folks songs too? Like this one? I like the sounds of your acoustic guitars, and the panning. The vocals seem to fit the style, it's a little sparse, but I guess that's what you were going for. I enjoyed it. |

Thread Starter | Thanks. I've tried tons of mic's and tons of positions to achieve the acoustic guitar sound i wanted and finally got it. Send me a link to your folk tunes. I'll take a listen and throw some comments out there |

| Gear Guru | Keeping in mind that it's hot here today, so I'm listening with a fan running not too far away, it sounds good to me. I like the song and the vibe. The accoustic sounds good to me to the degree that I can hear details. And the vocal performance sounds good to me. I'm not sure that the vocal being back is necessarily an issue. I think it kind of fits the vibe of the tune, though maybe it could come up a bit perhaps. Or you might notch out a little more room from the guitars for it perhaps.

Thread Starter | Thanks. I ended up bringing the vocals up a bit as well as the bass. Comparing it to the other mixes i've made of this song, it's much more "even" sounding |
