What advice would you guys give to someone who has recorded for many years for free but wants to turn pro, with a focus on Classical and Jazz recording? Do I need make a $20k investment and replace all of my gear to be credible / get gigs? Is it better save and invest in steps, or would you just get a big loan? --------------------------- My current gear list: MBP Logic 8 Apogee Ensemble Event Asp6(2) A Designs Pacifica (2 channel) Peluse 2247LE AKG C414B-XLS (matched pair) 2TB RAID 5 HDD via eSATA Expresscard 34 Presonus Firestudio (backup) ------------------------------------------------------- Heres my current gear replacement / LUST list: (Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to try before I buy, so I have to go off recordings I've heard. I know its BAD, but I have no choice at the moment...) Event Opals (2) DPA 4006(2) ORTF sE RNR1 (2) - love all the clips I've heard, especially on pianos and b.sax! Thinking of using them for blumein HD24XR - for backups What do you guys think? Last edited by Bflat; 25th June 2009 at 05:46 PM.. Reason: No responses. Wanted to make it more general |
