Opinions and advice on metal mix

Hey guys, I'm new here. I have looked at the forum over the past year or so and read and such, but this is my first mix I'm posting. Please give honest feedback. I'm using Addictive Drums and JUST got it yesterday so I'm still learning how to EQ drums and such. Keep in mind this is a very heavy song, and the guitar tone is terrible because I'm using a Line 6 Spider II direct out to my Ultralite mk3. Again, be gentle but honest! Thanks! This linked file will bring up a window that plays the song.

Mainly I'm looking for advice on how to EQ and Compress the kick and snare. The cymbals and toms are GarageBand's MIDI drums, I haven't had a chance to insert Addictive Drums' cymbals and toms yet. I need the drums to be more up front and in your face. Super punchy, like check out For the Fallen Dreams' album Changes and The Ghost Inside's album Fury and the Fallen Ones. Love the kit sounds on those albums.

You should start off my workin with the guitar tone. Its way too muddy. LINE 6 PODS are the worst for metal. Try using a plugin like AMPLITUBE (1 not 2). If not try compressing it more and EQing. It needs more mid and less gain (Just my opinion). Also a cool technique that is done in Math metal like this is Cutting any EMPTY space. Any guitar rest should be cut. It will give it that robotic feel. "BORN OF OSIRIS-ish"

Ya, this was not done with a pod, pod's actually have great tone for metal. If you have ever heard For the Fallen Dreams, The Devil Wears Prada, etc., everyone of those albums was done with a pod. But I can't stand the Born of Osiris mix... The producer was Michael Keene (sp?) from the Faceless, and it is TOOO processed...

But thanks a lot for your input

The timing is pretty good between the guitars and the drums, but honestly those drums are pretty awful. AD will sound a lot better.
