Final Mix

well it is all fine and good to be in the other forums giving advice about this and that, but finally it comes time to open myself up for critique/advice.

I am working on a cd of my own music and have one of the songs basically done. I lead worship at a church just outside of houston and so this is intended to be a "worship song," though we kind of took an old hymn and changed it up to be more modern rock.

I am the lead male vocal, acoustic guitar player, electric player, i recorded, mixed, and mastered the whole thing...so don't expect pro results...haha
in fact, there are some parts that i didn't notice tracking where you can hear me moving guitar around while recording and such...oh well can't do anything about it now.

anyway, i'm just looking for some advice on tweaking the mix/mastering...all suggestions welcome

thanks!

The voice gets buried a bit during the chorus and the hi-hats could use a steady limiter. Also, it appears the tempo varies quite a bit. I think the tune could use a bit of editing to nail down the progression of the track. When I think of this type of music it's hard to beat Bebo Norman's records. Particularly "I am" on BIG BLUE SKY. I would shoot for that for this mix.

Just my 2cents,

Definitely on its way there.

Perelandra05, thanks for your thoughts! I agree with your assessment of bebo's work. He is a super cool guy with some great skill.

as far as the timing issues, you are right, especially the toms on the verses...didn't notice the problem until too late.

hihat - good call, i'll work on it

voices - also a great call...needs fixing for sure

i really appreciate the input!

anyone else have thoughts?
