Howl Of A Lone Wolf

Hi slutz.

I wrote, produced and performed a new song called Howl of a Lone Wolf.

Let me know what you think.

The whole thing works reall well. Vox are great and the synths all come together pretty nicely.
Personally, I would choose a different kick. One that is punchier and that has enough midrange to translate over PC speakers (since it is on myspace afterall).
Some of the backing/additional vox are a little overpoweing at times.

Overall, I think it's well-suited for that genre. It's rugged while still conveying the intended message. Good work brother.

thank you greatly for your time to comment. good feedback. i will experiment with another kick. im using BFD2 so I have options. Im working in an untreated room alone, so it's tough to find the right zone. thanks again.

Hi,

I can hear everything, but the drums don't excite me at all. They're kind of limp. I'd like to hear more snap or pop or whatever you want to call it.

Also you need a de-esser on the vox, esp. on the choruses.

Nice work doing it all yourself!

How are you liking BFD2? I have the original BFD w/ a couple expansions and I get a lot of use out of it, though I've yet to find a rock snare sound I'm happy with.

thank you Joe for the feedback!

I will take these into consideration. I've never been happy with the drums, I wish I had a band to play it. That would really rock. Will give it another shot.

I like it as it's fairly easy to use and has some depth in the options, it's a resource hog for my MacBookPro. It also adds a random out of nowhere beat to the beginning of the song when rendering. I too have not been completely satisfied with the snares however. Im sure there is better available. Or more tweaking/experimentation is required.

Man, I really do need a band,..

I think the synth sound panned left on the chorus is kind of distracting. I'd bring it down and pan it slightly more center. Sounds good.

Thanks for the feedback man. I did that.

I made a new mix. Has a different vibe, much more thump. Trying to do a bit of a blend of genres with my own style. Modified the drum playing. Might work.

I think that the chorus is weak, not because it's not good, but just because the rest of it is quite good and the chorus doesn't hold up to the same level of quality. The verse parts are almost like Black Hole Sun channeled as hip hop, which is a good combination.
