Hey buddy, Listening on laptop speakers, the lead guitar doesn't sound like it's playing in the same space as the rest of the band. It's hard to explain. Almost like the rest of the band is in one acoustical space, but then the lead guitar is really muffled and in a closet or something. What effects do you have on the lead guitar...how did you record it? When the vocal first comes in, it kind of covers the vocal a little I think. Might try to automate it some where it lowers in volume slightly when that vocal comes in, or maybe make the vocal be a tiny bit louder right there until the lead gtr is gone. If you can do it easily, try out making the lead vocal come in at 22 secs instead of 39 secs. Maybe just push the whole song back a little where you vocal comes in sooner. I found the intro music to be very long. Cool vibe you have going on with the acoustic and the breath noises! Swaff |

Lead guit is an SG tracked through a Carvin VT112 and a Peavey C30. A little distortion on the way in courtesy of Maxon SD-9 through SparkleDrive. A bit of compression on the way in also. I put a stereo delay on the track in the mix to set it back a bit....2.12L/4.24R.....35%L/35%R mix. Quote:
I just automated the threshold on the comp as well as the LPF freqs to get the guit to sit better (or worse ). I don't do a lot of standout leads like this but for this tune I wanted something to speak out a bit while staying behind the vox and harmonies and still playing nice with the acoustic guit.As far as the intro.....with most of my tunes the vox jumps in right away. This one seemed to develop a bit later. | |
