Heavy Song

I made a heavy song the other day. Called it Aella. Not an expert of heavy music, haven't had to much experience with it but i really like bands such as baroness, torche, pelican, young widows, cave in, anything Hydrahead. Kurt Ballou (producer/converge) is also my main influence for heavier stuff, everything just sounds so raw and natural but still well produced. It was definitely made on the spot and I'm very care free (aka lazy) when recording my own stuff, just quickly throwing up a mic to get the idea down, no drum editing etc.

Drums were my Kent Custom drums from buffalo, huge bonham style drums 24" bass drum, super deep snare etc. Bass was DI. Guitars were just my squire jagmaster with a marshall guvnor pedal into a little 1x12 traynor combo miked with a md421. Vocals sm7b, but the funny thing is i can't scream at all, so the screams were done at talking level but then ran through my fulltone full drive pedal. The vocals are meant to be really low and buried. Everything but toms were recorded into my API 3124. Lucid converter/002.

This is a show and tell, since its not meant for anything, but feel free to rip it up.

Sounds pretty good.

The drums need to be more upfront though, I couldn't really hear the bass either (it needs to growl in the 1K area).

Good job making all this by yourself
