Thread Starter | Is this mix too busy or too dense?
Hi This is an "album" track from a project. Lots of parts and a tough one for me to manage. There are more tracks than I have experience for. Any thoughts about referrence eq, mix, etc. I won't list my questions as I don't want to jade your first listen. I have a do list but want your insights befotre mix and master time. Thanks a ton (honestly). the song is "I will Live for you" at this link Music page of His Legacy - MP3 music page on SoundClick

IMHO it is way over produced. I'm only listening on my laptop w/ear buds, so I hate to get too critical. The song has potential but there are a several problems. The lead vox needs to tighten up the meter (get the phrases in the pocket) and I cannot hear it clearly at times. It also has some instrument timing issues that need to be addressed. It could be my ear buds, but it seems to lack in the high freqs, and the bottom seems cluttered and muddy. Sometimes you really just need to part with some of the parts! That will open up the mix and give whats left space to show through. Nice Vox harmonies, and a really nice song. This is just my opinion, and remember I'm listening on a laptop, not my studio monitors.

try to get more power and space out of the drums - maybe parallel compression or more room mic or slapping on some verb. then I would turn up the guitar and let it be the foundation and main driving force. harmonies sound good but too loud. my 5 cents.
