Hi guys,

I did this mix about a year ago and never got around to posting it on here. I was just wondering what you guys thought of it. It was recorded on a Sonar through motu hd192's. Mixed on a mackie 8 bus. It kind of reminds me of an older Paramore song. The drums are 100% real. There are no samples on this mix. I recorded and mixed this all in one weekend.

If you'd like to hear more about the signal chain/mics/ how I did it.... let me know! thanks.

The vocals are bit pitchy. There's no auto-tune on it as well. I would have liked to spend some more time on the vocals but time wasn't permitting me to do so.

I like it a lot. I especially like how the snare nevers gets lost. It tends to a bit in my stuff with a crowded mix.

Great!

Good stuff. Good sound. I liked that a lot
Yes, please do post some details on how you did all that. I'm doing some rock music soon so some tips would be very handy
Cheers

Thanks for all the kind words guys!

We'll I'm a drummer so that may explain the drums, haha. They are my Tama Starclassic Maple sizes 22x18, 10" and 16". Snare drum was the drummer's OCDP 14x6.5 vented maple. Evans EMAD head on the kick, Remo Pinstripes on the toms, Evans Genera Dry on the snare. Cymbals were Zildjian 14" A-custom mastersound hats, 18" and 19" a-custom projection crashes, and a 21" sweet ride.

Drum mics were an AKG d112 laying inside the kick, sm-57 on snare top, audix d1 on snare bottom, sm-57's on toms ( my md421 is messed up, it sounds horrible for some reason i don't know why), shure ksm81 i think on hat, audix f15's overheads, neumann u87ai center room, 2 octava LDC room mics in the left and right corners of the room. Total of 12 mics on the drums. Preamps were trident s20 on kick and snare, the rest mackie 8bus pres.

Bass was I belive a fender jazz bass, ampeg svt350 head with 8x10 cab. Mics were akg d112 about 6" from the cab, neumann u87ai room, and a DI. Pres were Trident s20 on akg and u87.

Guitars were a Gibson sg and mexican tele. Amps were mesa boogie single rec 50w and Marshall jcm 2000. I forget which parts were recorded with what amp. Mics were 2 sm-57's and u87 room. Preamps were trident.

Vocals were a U87 through a Trident s20.

Everything was recorded straight to Sonar 7 through a stock Motu HD192 interface. The main plug-ins I use are Waves SSL on the drums and API on guitars. This was mixed on a mackie 32x8 with 12 outs on the interface so i had to consolidate some tracks on to other tracks. Master was recorded on my laptop from an EMU 96k card ( i forget the name of it). Sample rate was 24bit - 88.2khz. I'm a 21 year old college student and I did this during xmas break last winter. I'm glad you guys enjoyed it! It received some decnt local airplay until the band broke up. Thanks for the kind words.

I really like this!! Drums are sounding really big and punchy! And I actually like her voice, there's something about her voice when she goes to a high pitch it trembles like the paramore's vocalist that's why it seems so similar. Anyways great job!
