zero obvious mix problems on my little laptop speakers...

sounds really well mixed to me. I like the snares.

wait wait... not sure i love the rimshots (they are rim shots right?) at around 2:27. I could definately live with them though... I just woulda made them slightly drier.

really not my favourite type of music but
sounds really well done.
congrats

yeah, the rimshots are original audiotrack, the bands drumset was quite crappy ;-) all other drums are triggered. unfortunately, i dont have rimshot samples ;-)

suiseidl this mix sounds great! i love the snare. and the guitars sound phenomenal! if you don't mind me asking what tracking method did you use for those (amps, mics, double/triple tracking, etc)? I've been working with a similar sort of band and have been having a hard time getting the guitar sounding right.
again awesome job

ok, the amp was an engl fireball (or powerball? i forgot...). cab was a crate 4x12, so actually nothing special. mics used: c414, e609, sm57 (tab funkenwerk mod), m201tg. all 4 mics used in the mix at equal volume. pres: api 512c in a lunchbox. a/d was a focusrite isa 428 w/ a/d option. that into pro tools le @ 44.1 24bit. mixed itb. guitars just one take for left and right, no double tracking. thats about it!

Wow, this mix is phenomenal! Guitars blew me away when I first heard them, as everyone else has been saying the snare and drums in general sound really good.

When I first heard the guitars i instantly thought Mesa's so I'm suprised its not and actually an engl fireball!

Theres so many studios I've heard that charge hundreds of pounds a day that don't even come close to this mix!

The acoustic guitars unfortunately let down this mix as they're lacking lowend as is the bass in that part, the acoustics are also a bit tinny but that may just be the guitars/strings so hard to say, possibly fixable in the eq.

What did you use for bass?

And in regards to the song, yeh, good pop punk song but the screaming has to go. As many have been saying the singing is letting it down, not to worry though its easily tweaked, I think you just need to widen your mouth a bit more and start using more vowels, everything seems to have an "O" vowel surrounding it.

But yeh, overall the mix is fantastic, good job! thumbsup

bass was a cort (i dont know which model) and that went into a sansamp bass driver di -> api 512c preamp driven to "red" -> urei 1178 replica i got on ebay. for that kind of music style i would have preferred a fender jazz bass, but oh well, you gotta use whatever the band brings into the studio, since i dont own any instruments except drums myself ;-) acoustic guitar was a yamaha something. cant have been expensive coz the rest of the bands equipment wasnt either ;-) in mix i took down the low end of the acoustic guitar coz it seemed to make it a bit muddy overall. guess thats maybe personal taste. i used a u87 for that.

as far as the singing goes its not me (or my band, cuz this aint my band) responsible for that ;-) but hey, they're young. the guitar player is just 16, the singer and the rest of the band kinda 20-ish. i heard lots of worse musicians of older age!

btw, i charge 250€ per song, including recording time, mix and mastering (as far as you can call it mastering, thats my personal weak spot, gotta learn a bit more about that). think thats ok?

Spectacular production. Tight band. Rippin guitars. Good main vocs.

I could live without the backing vocals. I get what you're going for, they just seem out of place with the rest of the tune for me. Kinda take my focus off the song.

Good Band

Really nice job. I like the sound of the snare but I'm not a big fan of the drum ambience/reverb choice... sounds tad hollow. I actually wish the snare were more present.

Nice job! Really like it!

Not bad at all ! I agree, the backing vocals are a little too pantera than blink for that track - but maybe they have a satanist among them !

In the breakdown, while the guitar could sound a bit fuller, I felt that it was slightly off tempo with the bass and rythm track - it caught my ear.

I'm always delighted to realise something was BFD after I've heard the drums - it works fine in there I think !

Well done
