lots of guitar+lots of vocals= tough mix

help needed:

this track has a lot of harmonizing vocals and guitar leads. I can't seem to find enough room to fit them all into. any pointers any of you can give to push back the rhythm guitars, frequencies to cut, frequencies to boost, reverb/delays, compression, whatever on any of the vocals/lead guitar parts.

the panning on the vocals and lead guitars is just to demonstrate the different parts somewhat clearly.

Hey maybe:

Cut som lows from the kick & toms

the mix sounds a little boxy - the solo guitar could have some high end shine - And the vocals needs some air around them and they are a little low in the mix.

Maybe cut some lows from the OH.

Sounds like you can fix this man - shouldn't be too much work - rest your ears for a day or two.

work with the low bottom to get the kick and bass solid.

Good luck!

hey, thanks for the suggestions. i totally agree about the boxy-ness. i didnt track these, and i really hate the sound of the snare and kick. i had to use a sampled kick instead of the kits because it was so awful sounding. i would like to sample a snare, as well, but I cant find one that fits any better. the snare was recorded as with the hi hat, i guess. if it wasnt, well, they really ****ed up. right now i have the snare gated pretty heavy to try to kill some hi-hat 'wash.'

as far as the overheads, i have already shelved out a lot of low freqs (maybe i should just high pass?), and boosted the highs around 10k.

i also really dislike the lead vocal sound. its to chubby sounding, but no matter how much eq time i spend i cant find where its makiing me hurt.

i'll post a second mix tonight.
