Hip hop / Spoken word - Nat'l champ and one of the chicks form the OC

So... this is my boy Steve... he won the Nat'l poetry slam this year... and it features Danielle Bisutti who plays Joan, I think, the Newpsie on The OC. Oh yeah... and me.

It's more of a spoken word / hip hop hybrid... it doens't adhere to the typical 16/8 thang. He's a poet, so I am tired of trying to get him to change his rhymes to fit...

I would love input on everything from whatever to whatever. It's hot off the press and I am dying for feedback. It's going to NYC this weekend as Steve is taping Def Poetry Jam... I need feedback quick if I am going to change anything...

It's a longer tune, so I had to reconvert it to a lower MP3 quality then I like for GS to take it.

Oh, BTW, althought I think the morality of this track is spot on, it does contain language unsuitable for those with delicate ears.

Thanks!

Tunes.

Haha. This rocks. I think you did a good job recording this. All the samples are "clean" sounding and everything is soooo pristine. I am very jealous.

One thing I would question is the "volume" of this track. I know most indie, DIY, local stuff usually likes to be pummelled. But with commercially released stuff, you might want to be very careful. Especially if it is gonna be broadcasted in any form.

I got burned by this more than once by making material this loud from consumer and artist alike. I'm now a dog with his tail between his legs. With current material this past 1 and a half month, I am very concervative.

Just an advice about the "volume" of your track. But otherwise, you got gold!

Thanks!

Last night I was chatting with AlphaJerk who said it needed to be dirtied up...lol. To each their own. As for the volume issue, it's not meant for final broadcast or anything like that... it just needs to hit on the little stereos that people insist on putting in their offices.

Thanks for the comments... I'd love more.

Spectacular Great intro, nice fx. Nice job! I like the flow of the rapper and the contrast between the rap and vocals. Only thought I had was that I expected the breakdown (rap-drum only) to come a bit sooner so it would give the end part a bigger lift.

Great work

Very nice, feeling the love.

Sounds just like Will Smith - has he ever heard that?
