Bang's New BLACKLINE Mp3... ROCK N ROLL BRO!!

Working hard on my new album, here is a clip off a new track that I've been working on... this is MY band Blackline so hope you guys dig this one but if not, its cool!! All you LA cats send it to your pal in the A&R department!!

song is called ARMAGEDDON SOUL... don't ask, just listen! I recorded mixed and mastered it but I'll hopefully get Ted at Sterling to do the final mastering if budget permits...

Well played and tracked.
But whom am I thinking of 1:1, Black Sabath, Deep Puple, Uriah Heep ... ?

I'm a big Ozzy fan so thats quite a compliment! Thanks for the solid reviews.. What do you guys think of the vocal sound... there is a reason I ask... and no, its not because I'm the singer..

With a voice like yours, the fullness and grit really shines when it is dry and not doubled up. Its nice and in your face on this recording, but I'd like to hear the vocal on the verse stripped down as much as possible, with no audible edits. This tune sounds giant. Great work.

My band did a gig with these guys at Copperfields in Boston a while back and they sound just as great live!

Nardus Man!! Didn't know there was some local Boston music scene here. We keep saying that we need to book another gig with you guys... IRON BLACK TEXTURE... tune rocks!

Anyway... the vocal mic for this song was a Behringer B-2 for the verses and a MXL V77 for the chorus... I tried using a C12 but it didn't quite work for the song, had to be too eq'd... so there is one for you...

Dude, good memory! Yeah, we are setting one up and will give you a shout. We are cleaning house right now. Signed a deal with a large beer company (ughh) and had to take some time to get some things in order (like finally finish the cd and hopefully get a new website sooner than later). We are getting ready for our up coming show with Breaking Benjamin as sort of a relaunch and maybe cd release (dunno) after a 6 month break.

I simply cannot believe how far along you have come as an engineer and a band. The Boston scene is getting really tired but your new music gives me some hope that there are still some musicians in it for the right reasons. I'd love to hear an acoustic tune from you!

Thanks Rick..

This mix was analog in two stages:
a) it went out 16 channels into my Midas 320.
b) the Midas channels went to an Audient SUMO

The above setup with proper cabling has proven to be very sonically hifi. Its about 7 thousand dollars and I'd put it up against any mixer in the world, its really that good. Pro Audio Design has the Audient SUMOs, call Drew Townsend and tell him Steve sent you:
781 982 2600 x607

hey Bang,
Was all the eq in the midas? Do you do any processing in Nuendo? It really sounds great. The bass extension really goes down low and provides a great balance to the track.

All eq was Midas and Equium VST. I also have some API 560s and 550Bs but they were not used for the mix. I plan on using them more for my other mixes. The low stuff is with the Midas, for some reason, digital eq can't give you the BOOM that analog can in the lows. Thanks,

Steve
