Heya,
Listened to your song. Yup u're right about the snare. It needs more punch, more compression. The guitars aren't bad though. In my opinion, ide lower them slightly on most parts of the track. I like the bass!

listened to song 1. few things:

sounds good, but a bit soft:

Metal needs punchy drums. I'd add a snare sample, just take a 57 and put it on a nice tight snare and have someone wack it. Now gate it tightly, compress a tiny bit with slow attack fast release, and crank 4k and 100k and add that in a bit. The guitars need some more midrange. Are they POD or something like it? Bass is good, but maybe you can add some extra grit to it on the upper mids, like 2k.
